Rice cookers: understanding the Zojirushi NS-TSC10

Start with your normal batch

A rice cooker should suit the amount you make on a regular evening, not only the biggest dinner you can imagine hosting. Think about counter depth, lid clearance and whether a keep-warm setting fits the way your household eats.

Know what 5.5 cups means

The NS-TSC10 uses Zojirushi’s supplied rice cup, approximately 180 mL. Its menu includes white/sushi rice, brown rice and steaming, with delay timers and keep-warm functions. Match the Stainless Brown XJ model carefully; similarly named sizes and revisions are different products.

Keep the model identity clear

Match the exact 5.5-cup model, seller and condition when comparing listings. Do not assume every Micom cooker is interchangeable: the model code and size need to stay together.

Capacity starts with raw rice

The 5.5-cup capacity is measured using raw short-grain white rice and the supplied 180 mL cup. It is not a count of cooked servings, and other grains can have different limits. Use the instructions for the grain you actually cook rather than applying the headline capacity to every menu.

What stands out

• Separate rice-type and steam menus
• Delay and keep-warm features support meal planning
• A compatible replacement pan is catalogued

Where to pause

• Capacity uses a rice cup, not a US measuring cup
• Recheck new stock for the exact Stainless Brown model

Make the decision

Use your usual batch as the starting point, then account for the supplied rice-cup size. Compare NS-TSC10 with the exact size and menu you need, and check the space for opening the lid. A similar Micom name does not establish the same capacity.
